Prof. Guy De Tré | Ghent University
Guy De Tré is associate professor with the Department of Telecommunications and Information Processing of the Faculty of Engineering and Architecture of Ghent University. He is head of the Database, Document, and Content Management (DDCM) research group. His research activities are centred on computational intelligence in information management systems, including fundamental research on uncertainty handling, multi-valued logics and spatio-temporal modelling and applied research on, among others, big data (NoSQL databases), information fusion, flexible querying, decision support, data quality, and unstructured data.
He is (co)author of more than 270 scientific publications including 19 books, 35 book chapters and 80 journal papers. His work has been awarded with 5 best paper awards on international conferences and the 2019 anniversary medal of the Polish Academy of Sciences. He is area editor of the International Journal of Computational Intelligence Systems and member of the editorial board of Fuzzy Sets and Systems and Information Fusion. He is board member of the European Society for Fuzzy Logic and Technology (EUSFLAT) and is the scientific coordinator of the post academic tracks on ‘Big Data’ and ‘Big Data hands-on’ of the Ghent University Academy for Engineers (UGain).

Maarten is working as team lead for the Data Science & Engineering team at delaware BeLux. He specializes in the domain of data & analytics with a strong focus on data science and data engineering. Combining functional and technical expertise in the Microsoft (Azure) ecosystem with a background in business economics, financial controlling and computer science engineering, he strives to turn data into an intelligent asset. As go-to-market lead for data engineering Maarten has proven delivery experience in advising and managing complex data projects ranging from operationalizing AI solutions to tackling multi-million IoT device or multi-TB use cases.
